Moving K-12 Information Technology Fluency to the Next Level

The Commonwealth Information Technology Initiative (CITI) is pleased to announce its first K-12 grants, totaling $200,000, to promote the integration of information technology across K-12 curricula. These grants were selected from many excellent proposals received under an open Request for Proposals issued in December 2004. CITI worked closely with the Board of Higher Education Regional PreK-12 Networks to identify partnerships to support intensive professional development for K-12 educators (teachers and/or administrators) on integrating information technology in academic curricula, and to replicate the Boston Area Advanced Technological Education Connections (BATEC) model (www.batec.org) in another region of the state. The four grants highlight exciting progress towards the CITI goals. Grants will be given in the Greater Boston (West), Central, Pioneer Valley and Berkshire regions.
